Smoke Alarm Awareness
- The National Fire Protection Association recommends having a combination photoelectric/ionization smoke alarm on every level in the home and in each bedroom.
- Batteries should be replaced biannually. A good time to do this is when you change your clocks for daylight savings time.
- Smoke alarms must be kept clean! Occasionally vacuum the surface of the smoke alarm to help keep it operational.
- Smoke alarms older than 10 years should be replaced!
