Hello, I’m DeJohn Cromer, and I was born in Georgia. When I was eight years old, my family moved to Eielson A.F.B in Alaska because my dad was in the military. I have two older brothers, George and Patrick, who have been an important part of my life and have shaped who I am today.
Growing up, my mom worked tirelessly as a high school teacher at Ben Eielson school, dedicating herself to shaping the minds of young students. Her passion for education and commitment to her students left a lasting impression on me. After many years of devoted service, my mom retired from teaching in 2015. I’m incredibly proud of her accomplishments and the impact she has made throughout her career.
After high school, I decided to pursue my passion for culinary arts and attended Johnson & Wales University in Denver, Colorado. It was an incredible experience, and I graduated with an associate degree in culinary. Following my education, I made the decision to return to Alaska and started working at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where I’ve been for the past 15 years.
During my time in Alaska, I met the love of my life, Naomi, and we got married. A year later, we made the exciting decision to buy a house in the wonderful city of North Pole. It was around this time that I reflected on my experience as the student body vice president in high school and realized that I had a desire to serve my community in a greater capacity.
In 2018, I ran for the City Council and was fortunate enough to be elected. It has been an incredibly rewarding experience, allowing me to contribute to the growth and development of North Pole. My wife and I were blessed with a daughter named Soliana in 2020, and she brings so much joy to our lives.
When I’m not busy with my council duties, I love spending quality time with my family. Fishing trips are a favorite pastime, and we also enjoy taking leisurely walks during the summer months. I consider myself a laid-back guy who values the simple pleasures in life.
One of my personal goals is to explore as many countries as possible. So far, I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Bahamas, Canada, India, Australia, and New Zealand. Experiencing different cultures and broadening my horizons is a true passion of mine.
As your City Councilman, I am committed to serving the needs of our community and working towards a better future for North Pole. Together, we can create a thriving and inclusive city that we are all proud to call home.
