The North Pole Police Reserve Association (NPPRA) is a volunteer organization was organized in February, 1993. It is a non-profit organization that has supplemented the North Pole Police Department officers in performing law enforcement activities within the City of North Pole. Other activities have included providing the North Star Borough School District with security at sporting events, parade and crowd patrol at City of North Pole community functions, and even donations to charitable organizations to name a few.

To become an officer in the NPPRA, the NPPRA officer must meet the same stringent qualifications as a North Pole Police Department officer. They must have already attended an Alaska Police Standard Council recognized police academy and meet pass all the testing that a regular officer must pass. Even though the NPPRA is a volunteer organization and these officers are unpaid, they have done a great service to our community. It is a great way to learn the law enforcement profession with a "hands-on" approach. We have had many NPPRA officers go on to become full-time officers in both our police department and other police departments.
